When Bridie returned to the
States, she matted and framed one of her rubbings,
and gave it to her brother and sister-in-law as a
gift. Her rubbings received many compliments, but
Bridie put her talent on the back burner to run a
home for battered women with the Franciscan Sisters.
They also opened a home for homeless men. Bridie later
married the love of her life, and for the past twenty
years she has been a stay at home mom to raise her
three girls. Although many years had gone by, Bridie
still felt the urge to help the abandoned and abused,
especially the children. In October of '99, with the
support of her husband, Bridie returned to Ireland
to fulfill this dream. She started her one-woman business,
Irish to the Core, which specializes in the reproduction
and sale of her artwork. With each print sold, Irish
to the Core will donate a percentage to the accounts
of St. Anthony's Design and Our Lady of the Street.
These accounts will provide a refuge for the abused
and the abandoned, and a home for the poor to stay.
